I Loved Lucy!
I loved Lucy Ricardo - I truly did! No one could ever be as dear and adorable and as spacey as Lucy and still get away with it! But Lucy most certainly did - every single time. I watched her old show for just a few moments today and it reminded me of . . . . just the other day, I too found myself in the "supermarket" of today, I had chosen a wonderful scent of a toilet freshner, you know - the litle blocks of white crystal-like substance that is formed around a hoopy wire-kind-of-thing? You carefully take it out and bend it to conform to your toilet bowl - right? Right! That is what I was busy trying to retrieve from a beautiful arrangement that some bleary-eyed store clerk had probably spent an hour on the night before I got there the next day. You see, I wanted the peach one, the ones on top just did not smell like the label - the apple had no scent whatsoever, and the raspberry smelled like fake rubber. I wanted the peach, you know - like Georgia - and I was DETERMINED not to let that display of toilet freshners wound around a coil of some black wire concoction beat me! As I began to remove the top layer of plastic-coated toilet scenters, I noticed something strange began to occur. The bottom of the wire rack began to bend and fold in half! Well! As I frantically tried to put the ones back on top that I had removed and quickly decided on this moment's notice that the raspberry one might just be acceptable after all, the whole display melted to the floor. I quickly looked up the aisle at the cashier to plead my case, but she was too busy checking out a customer to notice my Lucy moment. Thinking I was just going overboard trying to "fix things" I began putting it all back as nicely as I could trying to tuck the melted rack underneath the perky "never-been-touched" one. Guiltily, I pulled my first selections from the heap of plastic coated toilet whatever and hastily moved on down the aisle. To assauge my guilt, I DID report it to the first poor, overworked teen who was busy cleaning up a spill with a mop down on aisle 4. Thanks, Lucy I sure loved watching you, it makes my days seem --- completely normal!
